Placement Test

English:

IELTS

IELTS is the ‘International English Language Testing System’ which tests English proficiency internationally. IELTS tests all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking. The Speaking test is a face-to-face interview with a certified Examiner. IELTS is necessary for those who are going to apply for permanent residence of Canada, Australia or New Zealand, or study in Universities in those countries, as well in the UK and Ireland.

TOEFL

TOEFL is the ‘Test of English as a Foreign Language’ and evaluates the ability of an individual to use and understand English in an academic setting.

It is an admission requirement for non- native English speakers at many English-speaking universities and colleges. Additionally, institutions such as government agencies, licensing bodies, businesses, or scholarship programs may require this test. A TOEFL score is valid for two years and colleges and universities usually consider only the most recent TOEFL score, for example TOEFL 2015 scores are needed by those who aspire to achieve admission for 2015 & 2016. Students should aim for a minimum score of 480 to 570.

PEARSON PTE

The PEARSON Test of English Academic (PTE) is a computer-based test designed for students wanting to study in an English-speaking environment. It is perfect for fast track requirements as results are typically available within 5 working days and it accepted by universities and colleges globally, and approved by the UK Border agency and DIAC for student applications.

CAMBRIDGE ENGLISH EXAMS

Cambridge English Exams are accepted by 15,000 universities, employers and governments worldwide. The exam preparation courses and exams ensure that students are able to communicate in English for everyday life, work and study, and open doors to higher education, improve employment opportunities and increase choice for study or work. KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, BULATS AND BECS exams combine the experience and expertise of Cambridge English Language Assessment and Cambridge University Press, allowing organizations to provide international benchmarks for employee language competency.

Business English:

BULATS

BULATS is the ‘Business Language Testing Service’ and is one of the most recognized workplace English tests in the world. It is accepted globally by employers, education institutions and government departments.

BULATS determines the accurate level of language skills in a workplace in a fast, flexible and affordable way. It is an essential tool for success in international business.

TOEIC

The TOEIC test is a valid assessment of English-language skills in the workplace. Employers worldwide use the TOEIC test to determine who can communicate effectively in English, across cultures, with co-workers and clients. Non-native English speakers wishing to work or study in an English speaking environment can demonstrate their level in English language by taking the TOEIC® test and meeting the minimum requirements.

CAMBRIDGE BEC (BUSINESS ENGLISH CERTIFICATES)

Cambridge English: Business Certificates, also known as Business English Certificates (BEC), are recognized by employers, ministries, government bodies and professional organizations throughout the world. This valuable suite of three qualifications provides clear proof that you have the English skills to make you an asset to your employer. Cambridge English: Business Certificates are developed in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) – the internationally recognized system for describing language ability.

Arabic:

ALCT*

ALCT stands for Arabic Language Competency Test and is designed to test the Arabic language proficiency level ranging from A2 – B1 and from B2 – C1 based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The test covers listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing skills, and oral communication of candidates to determine their level or grasp of the Arabic language in professional workplace and business communication settings.

Spanish:

DELE

DELE (Diplomas of Spanish as a Foreign Language) is the official accreditation of the degree of fluency of the Spanish Language, issued and recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Spain. The Instituto Cervantes is the institution in charge of organizing the exams, while the University of Salamanca is in charge of the preparation, correction and final evaluation of all the tests.

French:

TCF

(Students need to have completed the complete A1 level.) TCF means Test de Connaissance du Français (= Test of French Knowledge). This proficiency test is accepted by French universities.

DELF

DELF stands for Diplôme d’études en langue française (Beginner and intermediate levels)

To certify a level in French through a recognized French certificate

There are 4 levels for this exam: DELF A1, DELF A2, DELF B1 and DELF B2.

Useful for any non-native French speaker for personal or professional reasons or if you are French raised abroad and you don’t have any French high school or university diplomas.

DALF

DALF stands for Diplôme approfondi de langue française (Advanced level)

To certify an advanced level in French through a recognized French certificate i.e C1 or C2.

Italian:

CILS

The CILS Exam (Certificazione di Italiano come Lingua Straniera) is the definitive proficiency examination to prove competence in the language.

The CILS test is held twice a year in June and December at the Università per Stranieri di Siena and at other institutions abroad (The test is not available in the UAE). The certificate is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and most Italian universities as a requirement for admission.

German:

ÖSD*

ÖSD stands for “Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch”. The ÖSD is a state-approved examination and assessment system for German as a Foreign Language / German as a Second Language. ÖSD exams focus mainly on communicative aspects which aim to assess foreign language competence in real-life situations. ÖSD exams correspond to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
